Social Networking Success After two years of "playing around" on various social media sites like LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter, I was either going to give it up or get into it full board. Like you, I had a Facebook profile, LinkedIn account and Twitter account and had taken a class or two. I had spent more time than I thought was worth trying to make friends and stay updated. I began to wonder whether all this time was going to pay off. I knew others had bought into the concept of social networking and were convinced of its value, so I set out to see if I could find valid reasons to spend time on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. After all, I am all about relationships. If there is a mechanism out there that allows me to build quality relationships with quality people, then I'm interested. So I engaged in pursuit of social media success. After several months of intensive training on social media marketing, I am in love. I am in love with this medium. I have figured out how to stay connected to my dearest friends, rekindle relationships that were failing only because I didn't have time to connect and made new business contacts that have been very rewarding on many levels. In fact, over the past 7 months things have really begun to get very clear for me in the wide world of social media. And I can tell you that I am 110% convinced that it IS WORTHWHILE for anyone whose work revolves around building professional relationships. That being said, I warn you of the pitfall of spending too much time doing the wrong things. Many people I talk to today are finding they too like social media but are leary because of the time they fear it will take to make it work for them.
